SUMMARY:MBL Falmouth Forum: "From the MacArthur Fellows to Investing in Climate Solutions" - John Palfrey\, President\, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation
DESCRIPTION:Join us in-person in the Cornelia Clapp (formerly Lillie) Auditorium or attend virtually. Social distancing and masking will be required for in-person attendance. Limited seating available. \nThe John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation does many things for which it is well-known around the world\, including the MacArthur Fellows program and support for public media. Some of these fellows make their professional home at the MBL and NPR reaches listeners in Woods Hole every day. The president of MacArthur Foundation\, John Palfrey\, will join the Falmouth Forum to discuss these legacy programs as well as its largest current program area targeted at the climate crisis. In this session of the Falmouth Forum\, Palfrey will describe the grantmaking the foundation is doing in the US\, India\, Nigeria\, and elsewhere around the world as well as changes it is making to how the foundation invests its $8 billion endowment. \nAll those attending this lecture in-person must be compliant with the requirement to wear a mask inside MBL buildings whether vaccinated or unvaccinated. It is important to note that public convening may not be safe for all and carries a risk for contracting COVID-19\, particularly for those who are unvaccinated. Participants will not know the vaccination status of others and should follow the appropriate risk mitigation measures.
