When Mary Sears entered marine science, women were few in number, but she wasn’t deterred. During WWII she got her chance to excel as a naval oceanographer and performed at a level very few could imagine for a woman of her time. She helped change the course of the war. Mary Sears represents the generations of women who came before us in science, and paved the path we walk now.
