Woods Hole Business Assn (WHBA) is a proud supporter of the Woods Hole Partnership Education Program (PEP), a multi-institutional program between the 6 local scientific institutions offering a 10-week program designed primarily for college juniors and seniors from underrepresented groups in marine and ocean sciences.
On August 10, 2021 PEP students, PEP-II researchers and staff gathered for dinner at the iconic restaurant Shuckers on the docks in Woods Hole. A round of drinks was donated by the Woods Hole Business Assn as a welcome, with special thanks to Shuckers owner Lily Strout for coordinating the evening.
Earlier in the summer the WHBA helped gather gift certificates, t-shirts, hats and other merch that was shared in welcome gift baskets for all incoming PEP students. Special thanks to WHBA member Onji Scott Price of Mizar Imaging, and PEP’s Co-Director, for coordinating this effort.
WHBA has made issues of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Woods Hole a priority as an agenda item in their meetings for the last year, and continues to seek action items that hope to change the narrative in measurable and substantive ways on a local level.
