Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Woods Hole Film Festival will present the first virtual edition. The 29th Woods Hole Film Festival will take place from Saturday, July 25th through Saturday, August 1, 2020. This year’s program will include 187 films: 42 features and 145 shorts.
What is a Virtual Woods Hole Film Festival?
WHFF Virtual will be presented online and includes film screenings and live events. If you purchase a pass, all of the screenings and live events will be accessed through the Festival streaming platform. If you purchase a ticket to a single film or event you will receive a link to watch it on demand. Passes and tickets are available for purchase from the Festival website www.woodsholefilmfestival.org.
How does it work?
You will have a number of options available to you to experience the Virtual Woods Hole Film Festival. If you purchase a pass, you will be able to log into the streaming platform and watch a film from anywhere at your leisure at any time during the Festival. You will also be able to experience the live events via zoom at their scheduled time.
Links to the live events will be provided to you prior to the scheduled event time. And, although you may watch films at any time, the Festival schedule includes a suggested “watch” time that coordinates with the live Q&As. The other live events such as workshops, panel discussions, conversations with filmmakers, music, will also take place at a scheduled time.
During the Festival, you will also be able to purchase a ticket to a film or event “on demand.”
Film Festivals have been hit hard by COVID-19. Since early March, 179 festivals around the world have been cancelled or postponed. While a virtual event is not what we are familiar with and know and love, we hope that you will still take the opportunity to watch the incredible independent films that are part of this year’s festival.
