You can do all that and much more at the Buzzards Bay Discovery Center! Located at 21 Luscombe Ave, in the heart of Woods Hole village, the free Buzzards Bay Discovery Center is stocked with interactive exhibits that excite locals and visitors, adults and children alike.
The centerpiece of the Discovery Center is the Buzzards Bay touch tank, where you can get up close and personal with all kinds of Bay animals like sea stars, crabs, sea cucumbers, urchins, whelks, horseshoe crabs, fish, bay scallops and more. Touch, pick up, and pose for pictures with your favorite Bay animal.
In 2013 the Buzzards Bay Discovery Center also features two brand new hands on exhibits. Test your knowledge of the Bay and the Cape’s coastal waters with the interactive Buzzards Bay Quiz and find out how nitrogen pollution impacts all species – even humans – that use and enjoy the bay in A Changing Bay.
The Buzzards Bay Discovery Center offers an exciting schedule of free programs every day. Stop in to help feed the live animals in the touch tank during our Touch Tank Feedings, look at what animals are living in the Bay right in Woods Hole with What’s in the Bay Today?, find out what’s living in a drop of water and investigate water quality in Woods Hole with The Wonders of Water, and get your little ones excited about the bay through a story and craft during Bridge to Discovery. In July, the Discovery Center will also be the launching point for Itty Bitty Bay Explorers – a series of four free outings for families with young children to discover Buzzards Bay’s animals, plants and habitats both at the center and at outdoor locations in Falmouth. View full details here.
