WHOI citizen science campaign

The village of Woods Hole is home for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) but that does not mean the science stays on the east coast.  Researchers at WHOI have been assessing radioactivity released into the ocean from the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power facility. Woods Hole Off season

Probably the biggest question everyone asked me when the restaurant is closed and winter sets in – is”what do you do”. Well – we do take a vacation for sure. But as the cleanup from a busy year comes to a halt we get into construction and fixing mode. Still the mail keeps coming and the office is warm we start to reorganize for the upcoming year. This winter the Quick’s whole tavern, the new Soft as a Grape store, the Capt. Great Winter for Snow on Cape Cod

It’s been a great winter for snow on Cape Cod with so many storms down here that we are just getting used to them!  Sadly, many winters it does not snow much because we are so close to the warm Gulf Stream.  But this year has been a great one for sledding on the Golf Course, skating on local ponds, enjoying winter sunsets with snow in the foreground as we keep getting new layers of white snow. Stormy Day in Woods Hole

A blizzard blew though the area in the last 24 hours, shutting down schools, roads and ferries to Martha’s Vineyard with strong winds and about ten inches of snow accumulated.  Woods Hole hunkered down, WCAI broadcast through the storm and we peered out the windows as the wind howled, hoping to get out and play in the snow as soon as the weather cleared.
